Slated for completion in 2023, Australia’s first 1 Hotel will be part of Melbourne’s mixed-use Seafarers precinct.

A riverside regeneration

Planned and designed by Riverlee over the past ten years, this luxury development will transform a forgotten island of city land into a riverside precinct exhibiting a firm commitment to the site’s history and the natural world.

Playing an important part in the regeneration of Melbourne’s Northbank precinct, the Seafarers development will be home to the 277-room 1 Hotel – Melbourne’s first eco-luxury hotel – and 123 luxury hotel-branded residences. Its amenities will include a lobby lounge bar, premium event space (not least a ground-floor, 1,000-seat function centre), a state-of-the-art wellness centre and F&B venues, as well as the 3,500 sq m Seafarers Rest public park.

Sustainability and community connection

The sustainability-driven 1 Hotel brand, part of the SH Hotels & Resorts group, has been well-received after rolling out its first three hotels in the US. Each of these properties is designed to highlight the beauty of its natural surroundings, fusing luxury amenities with a focus on environmental responsibility, local sourcing and community involvement.

This new addition to the 1 Hotel portfolio aims to bring the same ethos to Melbourne, helped by a carefully chosen design team that includes Fender Katsalidis Architects (architecture), Oculus (landscape design) and ODO (interior design). The development’s currently expected to complete in the first quarter of 2023.
