Hilton Worldwide is set to open the beachfront Waldorf Astoria Cancun, which will feature 150 rooms and suites plus a signature spa, late next year.

Planned for late 2021, this luxury retreat is one of two stylish properties that Hilton’s preparing to introduce to the tourist-friendly area. We take a closer look at what’s coming up in Cancún.

Beachfront luxury

In 2017, Hilton announced plans to add two beachfront properties in Cancún, Waldorf Astoria Cancun and Hilton Cancun, to the group’s portfolio. Developed by Parks Hospitality, these neighbouring schemes span 100 acres of Caribbean coastline. Now as the resorts’ planned 2021 openings draw near, more details on the accommodation and lifestyle offering have come to light.

The five-star, 150-key Waldorf Astoria Cancun promises a taste of Mexican culture fused with the brand’s sophisticated approach. SB Architects and interior design firm Studio HBA were tasked with creating the resort’s fluidity between indoor and outdoor space, taking inspiration from natural elements in the surrounding area. Expect undulating forms, repetitive patterns and modern lines that represent the ocean, along with touches of Mexican colour and material.

Wellness and gastronomy

The sprawling property will encompass as many as five restaurants and bars, amenities including a fitness centre and outdoor pool, a signature Waldorf Astoria Spa and access to over 55,000 sq ft of event space. Specific dining experiences here will include the All Day Brasserie with international and Mexican cuisine, the Beach Bar and Grill for poolside dinners and cocktails, the fine-dining seafood grill Malqueque, the stylish lounge and bar Peacock Alley and the relaxed Pool Bar.

The Waldorf Astoria Spa, moreover, will offer indulgent treatments integrating Mexican wellness traditions with native ingredients, while waterfront or mangrove-facing terraces and private balconies distinguish the resort’s rooms and suites. The property’s concierge team plans to learn preferences before guests arrive too, ensuring a flawless experience.

The beachfront resort is located just ten minutes from Cancún International Airport in a prime position close to attractions such as Xcaret and Xplor Park, where outdoor activities include zip-lining, rafting, snorkelling and tours of the nearby caves and underground rivers.
