Currently under construction, The Student Hotel Madrid will bring travellers, locals and students together to stay, work and play in the heart of the Spanish capital.
Expected to open in early 2022, this forthcoming Madrid property involves the conversion and refurbishment of an existing complex on Plaza de España.
TSH ramping up its European footprint
In October 2019, The Student Hotel (TSH) secured a €90 million funding package from a syndicate comprising Santander, Sabadell and HSBC to develop two new hotels in Madrid and Barcelona, and refinance its existing Spanish assets. The company reported at the time that the deal formed part of an ambitious €2 billion accelerated investment programme to ramp up its presence across European markets over a five-year period.
TSH added that it already had three separate projects underway across Spain – in Barcelona, San Sebastián and Madrid.
A new student hub in Madrid
One of these developments, The Student House Madrid, involves the refurbishment of an existing complex, which was once a printing house, on Plaza de España to create a new 300-room hotel. TSH has teamed up with architectural firm Fenwick Iribarren Architects, interior design practice Masquespacio and contractor ACR Grupo to deliver the under-construction scheme.
Guests will be able to make use of a range of facilities here, not least a stylish restaurant and sky bar with views of the palace, a gym, a coworking hub, a communal kitchen, meeting spaces and a games area. Moreover, this exciting new property will be located in a prominent position just ten minutes from the Gran Vía and Palacio Real de Madrid.
