Work is progressing on the development of Rosewood Half Moon Bay Antigua, with the luxurious resort gearing up to welcome guests to its stunning oceanfront setting on one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches.

Upon completion, Rosewood Half Moon Bay Antigua is expected to attract well-heeled luxury travellers and residents wishing to experience the very best of the West Indies. We find out more about this idyllic new property.

Living in paradise

Half Moon Bay in Antigua is known for its coral sands, clear blue waters and balmy temperatures year-round. Paired with the lush landscape and rich local history, this makes it the ideal location for Rosewood’s latest venture.

Set on 132 oceanfront acres, Rosewood Half Moon Bay Antigua will offer 47 luxurious pavilion-style suites as well as 25 Rosewood-branded residences. The suites will offer breath-taking ocean views and carefully designed amenities, including private infinity plunge pools, hammocks, open-air baths and showers, and live orchid walls in each bathroom.

The residential units will range from two to five bedrooms, giving residents the opportunity to add their own customisations such as offices, home theatres or private gyms. Each property will be unique and offer either direct beach access or stunning ocean views.

“With its secluded location and breath-taking beach, Half Moon Bay is one of the world’s most stunning hidden gems, and a natural destination for Rosewood’s affluent explorers,” said Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. “We look forward to integrating Rosewood’s Sense of Place philosophy into Antigua’s incredible natural environment to create unforgettable experiences for our guests.”

Netherlands-based Studio Piet Boon has been tasked with the interior design, bringing Rosewood’s ‘A Sense of Place’ philosophy to life by embracing local styles, materials and colour schemes.

“When designing Half Moon Bay Antigua, we were compelled to create an experience that connected with the location,” said Piet Boon, founder of the eponymous studio. “Each Rosewood Residence blends modestly into the topography connecting the exterior with the interior as they move down the hillside to the bay.”

A new social hotspot

Vancouver-based development company Replay Destinations appointed Rosewood to manage the resort, which is expected to launch at the start of 2023, in January 2018.

The property will include several innovative dining and lounge concepts. Situated on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea, its signature lounge will be inspired by the flavours, colours, and culture of the West Indies, with artisanal Caribbean cocktails and small plates accompanied by live reggae and ska music, setting the atmosphere for a lively night out. The resort will also feature a pool grill and beach bar, as well as an onsite organic farm providing fresh ingredients for seasonal fare throughout the year.

“We are honoured to be the stewards responsible for reimagining this legendary property that is so loved by the people of Antigua and for almost 50 years attracted travellers from around the world,” said Michael Coyle, chief executive officer of Replay Destinations.

“By partnering with Rosewood Hotels, who not only have a storied history in Antigua, they also bring to Half Moon Bay a philosophy and approach for their guests that focuses on the distinct culture, history and geography of each locale. Together, we believe that what we will create at Half Moon Bay, Antigua will be the finest resort in the Caribbean and one of the finest in the world.”
