Ghana’s capital is looking forward to the arrival of a spectacular new hotel and serviced apartments scheme from Accor.

Fast-growing Ghana is set to get its first Pullman-branded hotel and Pullman Living serviced apartments developments. Due to open in Accra’s Airport City in the third quarter of 2022, the project will be the West African country’s first dual-hospitality offering.

Accor expands brand portfolio in Ghana

French hotel giant Accor and Platinum Properties, the project company, announced the signing of a landmark agreement for Pullman Accra Airport City in October 2018. The scheme is a joint development between equity partners Inter-Afrique Holdings and Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund. The deal was recognised by Kwame Nyantekyi-Owusu, chairman of Inter-Afrique Holdings, and Mark Willis, CEO Middle East & Africa, AccorHotels, during a ceremony at the Africa Hotel Investment Forum.

Speaking at the time, Willis said: “Today’s announcement marks the much-anticipated expansion of one of our most renowned upscale brands – Pullman – and signifies the start of our partnership with Dr Kwame Nyantekyi-Owusu, whom I would like to thank for his support and confidence in AccorHotels. This agreement is an important step towards expanding our network in Sub-Saharan Africa and demonstrates our dedication to developing the most distinct hospitality concepts, including Pullman Living, our compelling extended-stay solution in the premium market.”

Nyantekyi-Owusu added: “We are pleased to appoint AccorHotels to manage our first hotel in Accra. The contemporary upscale value proposition of the Pullman Brand will make Pullman Accra Airport City stand out and appeal to both business and leisure guests. We are confident that the Pullman brand is the perfect fit for the Accra market, owing to the strong brand positioning of Pullman as an upscale business hotel.”

A significant coup for Ghana

The scheme will be ideal for business travellers coming to the important commercial hub of Airport City and will be positioned as a central venue for conferences and events, which can be held across its seven meeting rooms and flexible facilities. The property will also boast a number of F&B outlets, as well as two swimming pools and extensive external landscaping.

Inter-Afrique Properties Limited is the development manager, Diagonal Projects Africa is the project manager, IBC Equity Partners is the transaction advisor and W Hospitality is the hotel consultant.
