Showcasing architecture by Daiken Design Co and interiors from SDS International Co, this New World-branded scheme is being lined up for one of East Asia’s top ski destinations.

A major new hospitality scheme will provide a base for guests to enjoy an array of outdoor experiences.

A focus on design

In April 2021, Rosewood Hotel Group’s New World Hotels & Resorts brand was selected by real estate and development firm La Plume Niseko Resort TMK to manage a forthcoming luxury resort on the Japanese island of Hokkaido. New World La Plume Niseko Resort will span almost nine acres of forested land between Mount Yotei and Mount Annupuri.

This newbuild scheme is being designed by architect Kazuko Okuyama of Daiken Design Co to preserve and celebrate the environment it sits within, fusing references to the location’s adventurous spirit with panoramic views across the mountains. White birch trees, which this area is known for, are to be carefully integrated into the exterior of the property.

The property will also benefit from interiors by Norihiko Shinya of SDS International Co. Travellers can expect to find a contemporary aesthetic on show throughout the resort, complementing its natural surroundings.

A hub for outdoor pursuits

Altogether, the resort will house 219 guestrooms and five villas, which each incorporate a kitchen or kitchenette, and are modern and simple in design. Some accommodation will feature private hot springs and fireplaces, while the property will also offer for-sale condos.

Among the many amenities at New World La Plume Niseko Resort will be a signature restaurant, all-day dining venue and lobby lounge with terrace, drawing on the finest regional ingredients.

A real highlight of the resort, meanwhile, will doubtless be its tenth-floor wellness space, incorporating an outdoor deck, pool, gym, and indoor and outdoor onsen. Moreover, guests will be able to make the most of a children’s club and access to a host of outdoor activities ranging from skiing and snowmobiling in winter to mountain biking and canoeing in the summer months.

The project is scheduled to open in Q4 2023.
