More regeneration for Croydon
In 2017, Croydon Council approved a masterplan by Dexter Moren Associates for the £90 million London Road Croydon Hotel project for London Hotel Group (LHG), which involves constructing a hotel, aparthotel and several public spaces. The exciting hospitality hub promises to deliver high-quality design that plays a part in regenerating this part of Croydon.
To facilitate the development at 585-603 London Road, three existing hotels with a combined total of 256 keys would be demolished.
In addition to enhancing the hotel offering in Croydon, the project aims to improve the street scene through its design and appearance, as well as through the integration of socially inclusive public space designed by Outerspace. The scheme’s architecture would be bold, punchy and complementary to the urban context.
A significant investment by LHG
The ambitious project would be one of LHG’s largest developments to date. On completion, the 435-room hotel and 158-room aparthotel would house a business and lifestyle offering ranging from dining to conference and leisure facilities.
Ultimately, this development is envisaged as a catalyst for further regeneration of the area, benefitting local residents and travellers, as well as visitors and staff at Croydon University Hospital and Croydon Masjid Islamic Centre – who will gain access to convenient accommodation, additional parking and an after-hours restaurant.
The target completion date for the London Road Croydon Hotel project has yet to be announced.
