We turn our attention towards the creation of a major JW Marriott hotel within a landmark new mixed-use development in Kenya’s capital city.

Marriott International will soon have an eye-catching new property in East Africa. We take a closer look at plans to build a 365-key JW Marriott hotel as part of the GTC Nairobi scheme.

Kenya gears up to welcome GTC Nairobi

The development of an exciting mixed-use project in Kenya’s largest city is well underway, with construction having started way back in 2014. GTC Nairobi is a sprawling complex spread over 270,000 sq m, comprising residential units, commercial office space, retail facilities and a JW Marriott hotel.

Aviation Industry Corporation of China (Avic) International is developing the hub, which is set to be the first of its kind in East Africa, and the company is set to take on two floors of office space within the GTC Tower.

JW Marriott cements its presence in Kenya

At the heart of the development will stand the 365-key JW Marriott hotel.

This luxury five-star hotel will boast ample corporate and conference facilities, with seven meeting rooms and an 800 sq m ballroom for events. Residents and guests will also be able to avail themselves of the extensive retail facilities on their doorstep, including a supermarket, lifestyle store and healthcare services.

The project is due to open in the first quarter of 2022.
