We check in with a 351-room hotel and residences development in the Caribbean, which Hyatt Hotels Corporation has confirmed will operate under the prestigious Grand Hyatt flag upon completion.

A forthcoming luxury resort on Grand Cayman promises to become a new jewel in Grand Hyatt’s crown. We find out more about this eye-catching property.

A new Grand Hyatt hotel is on its way

Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman Hotel & Residences is coming along nicely, with plans to start welcoming guests from Q2 2022. The project was first announced in February 2018 when a Hyatt affiliate struck a deal with developer Pageant Beach Hotel; the property will be managed by an affiliate of Aimbridge Hospitality, a hotel investment firm operating in North America and the Caribbean.

Speaking at the time, David Tarr, senior vice president of development for Hyatt, said: “We are delighted that the Grand Hyatt brand is expanding in the Caribbean, and especially in Grand Cayman where the hospitality and tourism sector is primarily aimed at the luxury market.

“The opening of this hotel will be a great addition to this popular destination, and marks the welcome return of the Hyatt brand to the Cayman Islands. Guests will experience welcoming luxury and best-in-class restaurants at Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman Hotel & Residences, while also creating memorable experiences in this breathtaking destination.”

What’s in store at Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman

This 351-key hotel and for-sale residences scheme occupies 7.1 acres of prime real estate on Grand Cayman. Situated right on the island’s popular Seven Mile Beach, the complex is located within convenient distance of George Town’s centre and ten minutes from the international airport.

The development will be unique for the Cayman Islands, with a selection of guest rooms, studio suites, and one-, two- and three-bedroom units for visitors to choose from. The private units will be available for purchase, and will also be eligible for a programme that enables them to be rented out to Grand Hyatt guests when not in use by the owners.

The complex will benefit from a range of amenities and features, including six F&B outlets, three swimming pools, a state-of-the-art spa and fitness centre, a kids’ club and ample meeting, conference and event space. Guests will also be able to appreciate all the natural wonders that Grand Cayman has to offer by going on snorkelling, hiking and scuba-diving excursions.
