TOPHOTELNEWS has Azerbaijan in its sights as it delves into the details behind a 360-room luxury hotel development in the capital Baku, which will form part of a spectacular new mixed-use scheme.
Situated on the shore of the Caspian Sea, The Crescent will feature residences, entertainment, retail and office space, though it’s the ‘360-room six-star hotel’ that has really caught the public imagination. We find more about the concept behind Crescent Hotel Baku.
Landmark Baku development progresses apace
It’s full steam ahead for a large-scale skyscraper complex in Baku that, upon completion, will introduce a new architectural landmark to the city’s skyline.
The hotel element involves the creation of a 360-key property called Crescent Hotel Baku, an exciting offshore offering that will no doubt wow guests with its unique location. The neighbouring office tower will be named Crescent City, meanwhile, with the residential tower, retail and entertainment complex given the moniker Crescent Place.
Dawn of a new era for Azerbaijan
The title of the project comes from the design of the complex, which is crescent-shaped. Overseeing the scheme is Korean design firm Heerim Architects and Planners, which has conceptualised it as lunar in nature, saying the design is “an attempt to reinvent the concept of the skyscraper beyond the traditional”. The proposals promise to redefine the city’s image and cement its position as a gateway between east and west.
The reference to the moon is not without foundation either, as the rising crescent moon is the national symbol of Azerbaijan. The complex is being developed by Gilan Holding, a forward-thinking local real estate investment company that has been developing projects in the country since 1987.
What to expect at Crescent Hotel Baku
The 360-room Crescent Hotel Baku is positioning itself as the most prestigious place to stay in the city. The development also includes 124 condos, which will offer full hotel services including housekeeping and room service plus a 24-hour concierge.
The hotel will have five F&B outlets; ample meeting, conference and event space including a large ballroom with capacity for up to 1,000 people; two swimming pools; a state-of-the-art spa and fitness centre; and a fully equipped beauty salon.
The hotel is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2021.
