This majestic eco-friendly project from Zama Desarrollos and DNA Barcelona Architects promises to help reconnect guests with nature, community and themselves.

The architecturally impressive Cocoon Hotel & Resort will incorporate 167 guestrooms and 204 apartments, along with 16 villas.

An immersion into nature

On completion, this Tulum property, which is currently in the planning phase with a projected opening date yet to be announced, will provide a resort experience that draws on nature and connects visitors with the wider community.

Developer Zama Desarrollos and architect DNA Barcelona Architects have come up with an eco-friendly resort concept that embraces biomimicry and is inspired by the surrounding forest and sea. Covering 46,181 sq m, the mixed-use scheme will feature two hotel and three residential buildings.

An array of luxury communal areas will be integrated into the natural environment as part of the project. Expect to see jungle gardens, a multipurpose pavilion, a restaurant, a kids’ club, pools, a spa and a panoramic ‘Nest’ complete with breath-taking views.

Balancing mind, body and soul

Overall, the resort aims to ensure guests achieve a healthy balance between mind, body and soul.

As well as encouraging them to reconnect with nature, it’ll give them the opportunity to unwind and disconnect from the pressures of everyday life. The wellness space has been thoughtfully designed with this in mind and includes pools inspired by the natural Cenotes given a sacred use by the Mayans.

In addition to taking inspiration from nature, the resort will strive to deliver outstanding sustainability, showing respect for the wider ecosystem and biodiversity in general. Its carbon footprint will be reduced by the clever use of a range of measures, including a ‘dry’ construction system, solar energy and rainwater recovery.
