Project in focus: Ambiente, Sedona, Arizona

Sustainable-tourism pioneer Ambiente, A Landscape Hotel will pay tribute to the majestic red-rock mountains around the desert town of Sedona.

Designed by ASUL Architects, sustainable-tourism pioneer Ambiente, A Landscape Hotel will pay tribute to the majestic red-rock mountains around the desert town of Sedona.

This striking property promises to connect guests with some of Arizona’s most extraordinary landscapes. Completion is slated for the summer of 2021.

Designed to fit the landscape

Thoughtfully designed to blend in with its surroundings, Ambiente: A Landscape Hotel will consist of 40 cube-shaped guest atriums, along with a two-storey lobby. At the heart of the resort, there’ll also be a pool and spa, as well as a poolside lounge and bar.

Each guest atrium will be elevated above the ground on steel piers and wrapped in floor-to-ceiling bronze-tinted glass, which at night reflects the landscape to create a mirrored effect. Spanning three acres of rugged landscape, the resort offers 360-degree views of Sedona and the preserved Coconino National Forest.

Reconnecting with nature

The owner and developer of Ambiente, Two Sister Bosses, brought on Scottsdale-based ASUL Architects and landscape designer Krizan Associates to realise its ambitious vision. Both firms have been tasked with designing the property in a way that showed a deep respect for the environment through using sustainable methods and celebrating the surrounding beauty, constructing the resort around the landscape to ensure it remains unchanged.

With its one-of-a-kind design aesthetic, the resort hopes to help guests disconnect from everyday life and reconnect with nature.
