The Al Ghadeer Hotel Project is expected to open in late 2021 as part of the groundbreaking Alghadeer residential and lifestyle destination.

This prominent Abu Dhabi development, situated near the border with Dubai, places much of its focus on sustainable living. We take a closer look at the forthcoming lifestyle hub, which includes plans for a new hotel.

Sustainable living in the UAE

Abu Dhabi real estate developer Aldar Properties announced the launch of its AED 10 billion (US$2.72 billion) masterplan for Alghadeer in April 2018. This masterplan sets out a vision to create over 14,000 homes, from townhouses to villas, along with public gardens, schools, community swimming pools, sports areas and a hotel.

This community will be centred around the multi-use farm and recreational space Harvest, food-and-drink outlet The Hub, educational and training area The Studio, dedicated area for purchasing farming tools The Shed, retail area for freshly grown produce The Market, and The Field – where people can rent plots to grow their own produce.

Open spaces, solar-lit gardens, lakes and greenhouses will characterise the overall site, which is being designed with contemporary architecture and smart-living initiatives to support sustainable lifestyles.

Five-star hospitality

After announcing the launch of this masterplan, Aldar proceeded to appoint Al Rakha Contracting & General Transport as the main contractor for the infrastructure buildings, and initial works for the first neighbourhood in the second phase of the development, in November 2018.

The hotel will be positioned as a five-star property housing 200 guest rooms. Fitting in with the rest of the groundbreaking development, this newbuild will immerse guests in the community’s appealing lifestyle. Time here can be spent cycling along bike tracks, planting seeds at the farm, relaxing by the lake and riding horses from the stables before trying dishes made from the farm’s fresh ingredients in one of the community’s artisan cafes.
