Project in focus: 25hours Hotel Sydney

Sydney’s first 25hours Hotel, showcasing the design talents of Tonkin Zulaikha Greer, A Work of Substance and Acme & Co, will occupy an iconic heritage building in the city centre.
The much-anticipated development of 25hours Hotel Sydney involves the transformation of the historic West’s Olympia Theatre in Oxford Street Village Centre.
Breathing new life into a Sydney landmark
In collaboration with CEBH, a joint venture between developer Central Element and investor Boston Global, French hospitality giant Accor announced last month that Sydney’s inaugural 25hours Hotel would launch next year.
Taking up residence in a building that first opened its doors as West’s Olympia Theatre in 1911, the exciting scheme will sit on one of Sydney’s best-known intersections at the point where Oxford Street, South Dowling Street, Victoria Street and Barcom Avenue meet. This prominent position in Oxford Street Village Centre ensures the hotel should provide the ideal base for travellers wanting to explore an area renowned for its strong creative, retail and dining offering.
A design-led hospitality scheme
CEBH has brought Australian architectural firm Tonkin Zulaikha Greer onboard to help deliver this ambitious project. Spanning a total area of 5,550 sq m, the completed property will comprise 105 spacious guest rooms alongside distinctive lifestyle facilities, including a rooftop bar with views over Oxford Street and the harbour.
Two interior design firms will work their magic inside the building. A Work of Substance in Hong Kong will oversee the hotel’s rooms, public areas and event space, including a buzzing central courtyard, with the aim of creating a memorable experience for guests. And Sydney-based Acme & Co will design the hotel’s restaurant and cafe offerings, as well as its enticing rooftop bar.
The 25hours Hotel Sydney scheme will also include a fitness centre and extensive conference facilities.
Through this project, CEBH hopes to create a unique place for visitors to stay, complete with outstanding F&B options. The hotel is currently expected to open at the end of 2022.
