The 203-room Park Hyatt London River Thames is set to open in R&F UK’s new Nine Elms mixed-use development on the south bank of the river in 2022.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation is ramping up its UK footprint with the news that it’ll manage a new luxury property in the heart of the capital. We find out more.
A new riverside development
The exciting plans were revealed as Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced that an affiliate has entered into a management agreement with R&F UK to create a new Hyatt-branded property.
“The addition of the Park Hyatt brand to London is a key milestone for Hyatt,” said Felicity Black-Roberts, vice president of development Europe, Hyatt. “It has always been a priority to bring our luxury Park Hyatt brand to London, so this is a fantastic opportunity for us. We are excited to continue and expand on Hyatt’s relationship with R&F by bringing this new exciting hotel to London.”
“We are delighted that Hyatt has identified R&F UK’s Nine Elms development as the best location in London for its Park Hyatt brand,” said Michael Purefoy, global brand director of R&F UK. “The globally recognised Hyatt name is a valuable addition to the development and we’re pleased to share that this agreement further cements the strong relationship that we continue to enjoy with Hyatt properties across the world.”
Following significant regeneration, the Nine Elms area, which is directly opposite Westminster and close to the new US embassy, has become a popular residential district. The hotel will be a part of R&F UK’s new developments here, which altogether comprise 18 buildings housing 2,300 apartments and over 120,000 sq ft of commercial space, shops and restaurants.
This space will include the riverside development One Thames City, made up of premium residences, shops, hotels, restaurants and a park. Construction of the overall project, which has been developed in conjunction with CC Land, is underway and the scheme is expected to take shape over the next two years.
Connecting guests to London
For the development, R&F UK has brought on the design expertise of SOM, KPF and Allies and Morrison, along with landscape architect Gillespies and interior design firm Super Potato.
As with other Park Hyatt properties, this new 203-room hotel will provide discerning travellers with a luxurious base from which to explore the city. The plush property will encompass a secure executive wing and event space, including a large ballroom, that’s being carefully curated for business and government travellers. While they’re here, guests will be able to make use of the signature art-filled Park Hyatt Living Room.
From the hotel, travellers will be able to visit nearby attractions like Tate Britain and reach areas such as Sloane Square and Kings Road on foot. By the time the hotel opens, the London Underground’s Northern Line extension is also expected to be operating, making the West End under 15 minutes away.
This hotel will join Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, Hyatt Regency Birmingham, Hyatt Regency Manchester, Hyatt House Manchester, Andaz London Liverpool Street, Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport, Hyatt Place West London Hayes and Great Scotland Yard Hotel as part of Hyatt’s growing presence across the UK. Further Hyatt-branded hotels under development, and expected to open in the next two years, include the likes of Hyatt Regency Edinburgh Marina, Hyatt Place London City East and Hyatt Centric Cambridge.
Park Hyatt provides an unparalleled experience of elegant, contemporary luxury.
