The prolific Hilton Garden Inn brand will debut in the Land of the Rising Sun in December 2022, with the opening of a centrally located 250-key property in Kyoto.

In partnership with Godo Gaisha Kyoto Shijo Hotel Management, Hilton Worldwide has announced the signing of a management agreement for Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma. We find out more.

A hotel for getting to know Kyoto

Once open, the new Hilton Garden Inn hotel will offer upscale but affordable accommodation in central Kyoto.

This 250-key scheme, complete with a full-service restaurant and bar, a fitness room and a 24-hour self-service retail space, will place guests within easy reach of famous attractions including Gion, the historic district known for its traditional merchant houses, and the Unesco World Heritage-listed Nijo Castle, one of the best examples of castle palace architecture from Japan’s feudal era.

Hilton’s growing presence in Japan

With its countless cultural landmarks and historic sites, Kyoto is widely considered the cultural heart of Japan. For this reason, the city attracts visitors from across the country and the rest of the world year-round.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of the first hotel under our focused-service brand, Hilton Garden Inn, in Kyoto,” said Matt Fry, senior vice president of development for Hilton in Asia Pacific. “This is the second hotel development inked by Hilton in Kyoto this year following our announcement on the signing of Roku Kyoto, LXR Hotels & Resorts, which is scheduled to open in the fall of next year.”

“Over the years, Hilton Garden Inn has attracted numerous dedicated and loyal guests from all over the world,” added Alan Roberts, global brand head for Hilton Garden Inn. “The brand continues to optimise and innovate, by combining affordable accommodations with elevated amenities and warm service around the globe. It is truly exciting to see the entry of Hilton Garden Inn into Japan and I am confident it will be top of mind for travellers when it opens in Kyoto.”
