Radisson signs new Park Inn by Radisson Wismar
Radisson Hotel Group will welcome a new Park Inn hotel to its portfolio in the final half of 2019. Set to open in the third quarter of the year, the new Park Inn by Radisson Wismar will be located in one of the most picturesque cities on Germany’s Baltic coast.
Wismar, a regional port city with significant history, will be home to the 98-key property, and the hotel’s unique design is inspired by its location, with each room reminiscent of a ship’s cabin.
This will be the fourth Radisson property in this region of Germany, following in the footsteps of the Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels in Lübeck and the Radisson Blu Hotel, Rostock.
Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer, Radisson Hotel Group, spoke of the signing, saying, “Germany is a key focus market. We are pleased to be taking part in this project with MV Werften and thank them for their trust to bring a new Park Inn by Radisson to Wismar. We look forward to creating an exciting new property that delivers value to all key stakeholders.”
Ships ahoy at Park Inn Wismar
Wismar is notable for being one of the best preserved medieval towns in Germany, and the old historic centre was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002.
Located in Alter Holzhafen, the hotel will allow guests easy access into Wismar’s historic centre, as well as to the harbour, which is home to the many shipyards that proliferate in the area.
In fact, the hotel’s specially designed guest rooms will actually be built in Wismar’s shipyard, which also produces the luxury Endeavor Class polar expedition yachts and the Global Class cruise ships.
