Originally announced in 2018, Amari Vientiane was put on hold during the pandemic period, but is now moving forward, with opening scheduled for Q3 2024.
Developer swap
The newbuild project has switched developers, having begun with Asia Investment, Development & Construction Sole Co Ltd, but is now being backed by Tang Chareon Group.
Amari Vientiane, on Laos’ southern border with Vietnam, will complement Onyx’s first national property, Amari Vang Vieng, a slightly northerly neighbour.
Facility array
The latest hotel promises an array of facilities, including all-day dining, 248 well-appointed rooms, a rooftop executive lounge, a specialty rooftop restaurant and a rooftop bar.
Extensive banqueting facilities will include a ballroom and meeting rooms, while leisure offerings encompass a state-of-the-art gym, Breeze Spa, a main pool, a children’s pool and a kids’ club, plus ample parking will be offered.
Cluster expansion
Yuthachai Charanachitta, CEO of Onyx Hospitality Group, stated: “Our signing of Amari Vientiane represents an exciting leap forward in our cluster expansion strategy across Laos and the broader Southeast Asian region.
“We remain dedicated to creating exceptional hospitality experiences for our guests, and this new property underlines our commitment to that mission. As we continue to expand our footprint in Southeast Asia, our aim is to provide diverse and captivating destinations for travellers to explore.”
Southeast Asian expansion
As Onyx Hospitality Group continues to expand its portfolio of hotels, resorts and serviced apartments across Southeast Asia, it is poised to operate over 50 properties by 2025.
This expansion includes the upcoming launch of Amari Colombo in Sri Lanka, plus a Malaysian pair – the 198-key Ozo Medini Iskandar and the 232-key Shama Medini.
