Ontario prepares to welcome lakeside Autograph Collection hotel
by Lauren Jade Hill | 10 Oct 2021 | Design

The Pearle Hotel & Spa, designed by Studio Munge, will become Ontario’s first Autograph Collection-branded property when it opens in downtown Burlington this November.
An urban retreat that aims to emulate a modern lakehouse will soon host guests on Burlington’s vibrant waterfront
An inspired lakeside retreat
Located just steps from Lake Ontario at 3 Elizabeth Street, The Pearle Hotel & Spa will accommodate guests in interiors designed by Studio Munge, pairing white oak panelling with lake views, when it makes its debut on 1 November 2021. On arrival, guests will encounter a lobby highlighting local artwork, with a grand spiral staircase leading from here to the hotel’s 151 guestrooms and public spaces reflecting the Canadian seasons.
Created by Pearle Hospitality, this elegant but informal Autograph Collection scheme is inspired by the work ethic and spirit of hospitality of the matriarch of the Ciancone family, grandmother Pearle. The company, which was founded by the Ciancone family in 1936, already boasts an impressive portfolio spanning hotels, restaurants, a golf club, a farm and an events business.
“The Pearle Hotel & Spa is a dream soon to be realised,” said Aaron Ciancone, president of Pearle Hospitality.
Wellness and farm-driven cuisine
A highlight of the new hotel is likely to be its full-service spa, offering rejuvenating treatments and housing a range of amenities, including a hammam, indoor swimming pool and state-of-the-art fitness centre. Meanwhile, the property’s culinary offering will be defined by two inventive, farm-driven dining options using produce from Pearle Hospitality’s own farm.
The summer-inspired restaurant Isabelle, headed by executive chef Ben Heaton, will feature an expansive lakeside terrace. And Earth to Table: Bread Bar – the concept’s fourth location – will offer high-quality-ingredient dishes and coffee with casual café seating.
Last but not least, events will be hosted in 10,000 sq ft of elegantly designed space, featuring hand-blown fixtures by local artisans, floor-to-ceiling windows and impressive lake views.
