Kerzner and Lone Mountain Land Company are collaborating on the creation of the Olson Kundig-designed One&Only Moonlight Basin at the iconic Big Sky ski resort.

This ultra-luxury resort and residential community promises to bring a new level of hospitality to Big Sky, pairing world-class design with lavish amenities.

The first of its kind

Hospitality company Kerzner and Lone Mountain Land Company, formed by CrossHarbor Capital Partners to manage the planning, entitlement, building, marketing, operation and sale of real estate in and around Montana’s Big Sky ski resort, have announced plans for a major new mixed-use scheme designed by Olson Kundig. On opening in 2024, One&Only Moonlight Basin will be the first One&Only resort and residential community in the US, as well as the brand’s inaugural alpine resort.

It’s envisaged that the exciting project will incorporate 73 guestrooms and suites in a main lodge, as well as 19 secluded villas, a ski lodge and a Chenot Spa. The first community of One&Only Private Homes in the US, meanwhile, will comprise 62 private residences dotted throughout the landscape, featuring glass walls to open up the stunning views of the mountains.

“I am thrilled that we are introducing our first One&Only resort and community of private homes in the US,” said Philippe Zuber, chief executive officer, Kerzner International. “Each One&Only resort celebrates their own distinctive location and Big Sky is the perfect site, where guests and residents alike can enjoy the very best of nature year-round through the life and energy of One&Only.

“At Moonlight Basin, Lone Mountain Land Company has built a mountain destination that showcases the natural beauty of Montana’s extensive, dramatic landscapes, and I am delighted to introduce One&Only in this unrivalled destination.”

An immersion into nature

One&Only Moonlight Basin will be located amid spectacular scenery, between Lone Peak and the Spanish Peaks. It’ll be connected by gondola to world-class skiing, provide access to mountain golf courses and offer a convenient base for outdoor exploration.

Minimal impact and respect for the terrain will be reflected in the secluded scheme’s architectural design, and guests can expect interiors enhanced by the inclusion of local art, floor-to-ceiling windows and roaring fires. A strong sense of privacy will be a priority throughout the development.

Among the highlights of this forthcoming resort will be a spa created in partnership with Swiss health and wellness brand Chenot, combining science-based health and beauty with alternative therapies. It’s expected to become the first site offering the Chenot Method in North America.

Guests will then be able to enjoy both indoor and outdoor dining concepts showcasing local produce, with each restaurant sporting its own distinctive ethos, flavours and design.

“Moonlight Basin offers one of the most unique mountain experiences in the US,” said Matt Kidd, managing director, Lone Mountain Land Company. “We look forward to working with the One&Only team in Big Sky to bring the unique design and exceptional service standards of One&Only to Montana.”

The plot earmarked for development is located just an hour away from both Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport and Yellowstone National Park.
