Family travel is shaping hotel plans beyond the usual beach resort. Three projects tracked in the THP hotel database show how varied those plans can be. They are located in Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Italy. All three are under construction, with openings set for 2027 and 2028.

Aquarabia Park Hotel is the largest of the group, with 550 rooms. The four-star, 12-floor new building is going up inside Aquarabia Waterpark in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia, so guests will have direct access to the park. Rooms will have views of the slides and pools, and the hotel will add family lounges, several restaurants, a private pool deck, and a spa. It is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2027.

Nickelodeon Orlando Hotel in Kissimmee, Florida, is a new build aimed squarely at families. The four-star hotel will have 400 rooms and is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2028, the latest date of the three. Its amenities and entertainment are expected to resemble those at Nickelodeon’s two existing resorts in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. SpongeBob SquarePants theming is expected to feature heavily.

Grand Hotel Bristol Stresa in Stresa, Piedmont, takes a different route. The property is currently rated four stars, and a renovation will turn it into a five-star hotel designed for families. The room count will go up to 203, and new dedicated amenities will include a spa and “adults-only” areas. It is due to open in 2027. Across the three projects, room counts run from 203 to 550, and two of the three are rated four stars. Two are new builds and one is a renovation of an existing hotel, so the group covers more than one way of adding family-focused rooms. Each is one entry among thousands the THP database tracks globally.
