Indian luxury resort group Oberoi Hotels and Resorts is partnering with India’s largest private company, Reliance Industries, on three new hotel developments.

The joint management agreement covers two newbuild sites in India as well as an existing property in the UK which will be updated.

Indian pair

The first Indian project is Anant Vilas in Mumbai. This has been conceived as the first metro-centric property as part of the luxury ‘Vilas’ portfolio run by Oberoi.

Located in the bustling business district of Bandra Kurla Complex, which is fast becoming a mixed use destination with business, hospitality, shopping, F&B, arts and culture, educational and residential uses, Anant Vilas seeks to augment the business district’s hotel footprint with an iconic experience for visitors.

The other Indian newbuild is a new project earmarked for Gujarat. Envisaged as another iconic hotel project to augment the tourism potential in this state, the as yet unnamed project is under implementation.

UK renovation

The UK site is a Reliance subsidiary, Stoke Park Country Club, Spa and Hotel in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire. Oberoi will assist Reliance in upgrading the facilities to make the resort a world-class destination.

Plans will include a comprehensive renovation of the hotel, the onsite golf course and other sports facilities.

Joining Oberoi

Oberoi’s portfolio includes several palaces and other historic properties that have been enhanced while preserving the buildings’ character and vision.

Also in the Indian pipeline are a series of 250-key sites for around the country: Oberoi Grandikota, Oberoi Horsley Hills and Oberoi Picchukalanka in the centre and Oberoi Tirupati and Oberoi Visakhapatnam in the east.
