The Mapletree Investments-owned hospitality group has bolstered its portfolio with the debut of Oakwood Premier Melbourne in the Australian state of Victoria.

A towering scheme featuring 132 hotel rooms and 260 serviced apartments has thrown open its doors in one of Australia’s biggest cities.

A landmark site

Introducing a fresh landmark to the city, the new Oakwood Premier Melbourne is housed within one of the tallest, single-purpose developments in Australia, reaching 140 metres and 40 storeys high. From here, far-reaching views take in the CBD, Yarra River, South Melbourne, Albert Park and Port Phillip Bay.

As a group, Oakwood has continued to grow despite the difficulties brought about by the pandemic, opening eight properties, signing another ten and launching new brand Oakwood Living in the US. Oakwood Premier is now present in ten major cities, with further schemes in Phnom Penh and Kuala Lumpur already in the pipeline.

“As we strive towards our goal of doubling Oakwood’s portfolio of managed properties by 2025, we are cognisant of evolving traveller preferences and expectations,” said Dean Schreiber, chief executive officer of Oakwood. “Within our ecosystem of eight distinctive Oakwood experiences, we are committed to continuous innovation and evolution with a guest-first approach to cater to both business and leisure travellers at different cycles of their life.

“Tailored luxury is the foundation of Oakwood Premier. We are excited to debut this distinctive style of hospitality at Oakwood Premier Melbourne, which marks the significant milestone of Oakwood’s storied legacy in hospitality excellence by housing our 10,000th key.”

The brand’s signature hospitality offering

Oakwood Premier Melbourne houses 132 luxurious hotel rooms and 260 serviced apartments with fully equipped kitchens, which are ideal for extended stays. This accommodation is joined by all-day dining destination the Fifth – offering modern Australian cuisine with a Pacific Rim influence – along with a range of other amenities including a Sky Bar, a fitness centre, three meeting rooms and two multipurpose event venues.

Guests can also make use of the hotel’s coworking space and unwind in a games centre, as well as two outdoor green spaces. The property, which represents the debut of the Oakwood Premier brand in Australasia, is a short walk from Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, South Melbourne Market and Marvel Stadium.

Oakwood is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore-headquartered real estate development, investment, capital and property management company Mapletree Investments.
