New Viceroy Washington DC hotel celebrates Logan Circle district

Viceroy Washington DC is an EDG-designed luxury lifestyle hotel showcasing the vibrant community and dynamic culture of its local neighbourhood.

Viceroy Hotels & Resorts’ first property in the Washington metropolitan area, this highly anticipated hotel is the Logan Circle neighbourhood’s newest social hub. We take a closer look at the scheme.

A celebration of the surroundings

Positioned on the neighbourhood’s fashionable 14th Street corridor, Viceroy Washington DC combines its identity as a modern luxury lifestyle hotel with a celebration of history and art, greeting guests on arrival with a mural by local artist Brandon Hill. EDG Interior Architecture + Design came up with a concept for the hotel that stayed true to the design-driven ethos Viceroy is known for – and the result is a warm and vibrant look that represents the culture of Washington DC.

Design elements embody the neighbourhood’s most distinct qualities, dining concepts pay homage to the district’s jazz heritage and a gallery displays the work of local artists. Overall, this hotel is designed to be a focal point for the community, artistic discovery and culture generally.

Each of its spaces is curated to encourage creativity and conversation among locals and visitors alike. The all-season outdoor restaurant and bar BPM Coffee & Wine, for example, is now one of the neighbourhood’s go-to spots with its spacious outdoor patio surrounded by greenery, providing the ideal venue for coffee dates, working lunches and evenings by the fire pit.

In addition to this, the hotel has 178 oversized guest rooms and suites, a series of flexible work areas and more than 5,000 sq ft of meeting and event space. Each of the guest rooms and suites, which are some of the largest in all of Washington DC, pair a calming palette of neutral colours with whimsical artworks and custom jazz playlists inspired by the neighbourhood’s musical history. Here, oversized desks provide a comfortable set-up for guests working remotely.

A safe sanctuary in the wake of Covid19

Sizeable outdoor spaces, spacious rooms and the capability for socially distanced events give Viceroy Washington DC a stellar reputation as a safe sanctuary in the wake of coronavirus. The hotel diligently practices Viceroy’s Promise of Cleanliness plan and guests have access to Covid-secure amenities such as the in-room touchless Google NestHubs virtual concierge.

“It’s been an incredibly difficult year for the hospitality industry and opening Viceroy Washington DC despite the challenging circumstances is a proud milestone for our brand,” said Bill Walshe, CEO, Viceroy Hotels & Resorts. “We’ve taken time to reflect on how to deliver an experience both Washingtonians and travellers are seeking right now. Opening our doors to host the neighbourhood provides a safe gathering place and warm welcome when it’s most needed.”

Following on from its opening, the hotel will soon launch Dovetail, Viceroy’s contemporary bar and restaurant featuring shared plates and local spirits, and seasonal rooftop bar Hush. Later in the year, Hotel Zena will become the second Viceroy property to open in the District.
