Seoul’s newest Mercure property will invite guests to dive into local culture and enjoy immersive experiences in the heart of the South Korean capital’s trendiest neighbourhood.

Together with Seohan Tourism Development, Accor Ambassador Korea will soon launch its newest hotel in South Korea’s capital – Mercure Ambassador Seoul Hongdae is slated to open its doors in August 2020. We find out more about this cutting-edge property.

Seeing a different side of Seoul

The Mercure brand aims to create a stimulating sense of place and let the local surroundings inspire the design and service offerings, and this philosophy really comes to life in Seoul’s new hotel, which sits in an area popular with the city’s youth. Indeed, modern art pieces and daring murals in the property’s public spaces help create a seamless transition from the vibrant streets of Hongdae district to the guest rooms.

“Mercure is a trusted brand that allows travellers to really immerse themselves in the destination. Mercure Ambassador Seoul Hongdae is located in close proximity to the four universities, where the district is renowned for its bustling nightlife and underground culture,” said Patrick Basset, chief operating officer, Accor, Upper Southeast & Northeast Asia and the Maldives.

The ideal rest stop for lifestyle travellers

The new Mercure Ambassador Seoul Hongdae will offer 270 guest rooms, an all-day-dining restaurant, lobby bar, fitness centre and laundromat, making it ideal for extended stays. Its convenient access to Hongdae Subway Station with three subway line connections also enables guests to discover the city’s trendy cafes, cosy galleries, art markets, boutique fashion shops, night clubs, bars and gourmet eateries.

“This is the first hotel opened in the northwestern part of Seoul,” said Steve Choi, president in Seohan Tourism Development, an affiliated company of Ambassador Group. “Hongdae is renowned for its vibrant urban arts and amazing music scene. The hotel is located in close proximity to both Incheon and Gimpo International Airport, offering visitors an opportunity to explore some of the great attractions nearby.”

Ready for the digital traveller

The property is fully equipped with Internet of Things technology, with guests able to control various aspects of the in-room experience from their devices, including Chromecast and Bluetooth speakers. A business corner and modern meeting facilities are available for corporate gatherings and events too, while the outdoor courtyard is set to provide an ideal setting for private parties and cocktails.

Accor Ambassador Korea, a joint venture company built in partnership with Accor and Ambassador Hotel Group, currently operates 24 hotels across seven cities in South Korea.
