New Hard Rock Hotel to open in Portugal’s Algarve

Hard Rock International and Mercan Properties are partnering on the development of Hard Rock Hotel Algarve near Praia do Vau in Portimão.

The exciting new property is expected to open in 2026 with 275 rooms and suites along with 150 branded serviced apartments and a wealth of lifestyle amenities.

Entry to Portugal

Set to begin construction in early 2024, the new Hard Rock Hotel Algarve is expected to first welcome guests in the summer of 2026. Highlights of the property will include its three restaurants, three bars, three pools, Rock Spa, Rock Shop, a sports area, direct beach access and a beach club.

Commenting on the plans for this property, Todd Hricko, senior vice president and head of global hotel development for Hard Rock International, said: “We’re delighted to expand Hard Rock Hotel’s unparalleled offerings to the beautiful country of Portugal in 2026.

“This new development will further extend the enhanced entertainment experience our guests know and love to yet another part of the world, while incorporating the country’s amazing culture.”

An attractive location

This hotel development will bring new visitors to the town of Portimão, which is known for its historic ports, lively marina and the Algarve International Autodrome, where the Portuguese Grand Prix has been held, as well as for having some of the best beaches in the region.

This hotel development is expected to create more than 400 jobs through the construction and operation of the property.
