DoubleTree by Hilton Abilene Downtown Convention Center lies adjacent to Abilene’s downtown convention centre and is at the heart of the city’s revitalised cultural district.

The 200-key property encompasses more than 23,000 sq ft of meeting space along with public space including a smokehouse restaurant and cocktail lounge.

A new meeting and social hub

The brand-new DoubleTree by Hilton Abilene Downtown Convention Center is now open as a hub for meetings and social events in the city of Abilene in Texas. This property is home to more meeting space than any other hotel in the area.

Abilene is located 150 miles west of Dallas and is a city known for its rich history and large public collection of sculptural storybook characters that give it the name Storybook Capital of America. From the hotel, guests can get to know the area’s many boutiques, restaurants, bars, libraries and museums, and visit nearby sites like the Adamson-Spaulding Storybook Garden.

“We’re thrilled to continue our growth in Abilene with our fifth property in the market – a place that holds a special place in our history. Texas is where Conrad Hilton opened our first hotel, and Abilene is one of the first markets where he sought to expand,” said Danny Hughes, executive vice president and president, Americas, Hilton.

“With the addition of this incredible property, we look forward to strengthening our presence in the market and continuing to spread the light and warmth of hospitality that Conrad envisioned more than 100 years ago.”

Shawn McAteer, senior vice president and global head, DoubleTree by Hilton, commented: “DoubleTree by Hilton Abilene Downtown Convention Center is poised to provide visitors with all they could want or need while away from home. Starting with a warm chocolate chip cookie at check-in, continuing with excellent service, great dining options and a true hub of meeting and event space. We look forward to sharing our warm and caring hospitality common to all DoubleTree by Hilton hotels, in the heart of Abilene.”

Designed for work and relaxation

The new hotel is home to 200 guest rooms, including four executive suites, a presidential suite and the Five Feet to Fitness with Peloton room, which all feature modern rustic design inspired by the West Texas landscape. All rooms have a spacious workstation and floor-to-ceiling windows and the presidential suite comes with amenities including a six-person dining area and wine fridge.

Fitness and wellness facilities outside the Five Feet to Fitness with Peloton room, which comes with its own exercise equipment, include a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness centre with Peloton and an outdoor heated pool.

Guests and locals can dine at the hotel’s restaurant Smokehouse Abilene, led by Executive Chef Adam Dickerson, where regionally inspired dishes are given a modern twist. This restaurant is then joined by the hotel’s lobby lounge and cocktail bar, Cattlemen’s Exchange, and a 24-hour grab-and-go market.

The hotel stands out for its ample meeting and event space, which spans as much as 23,000 sq ft and includes 13 individual event spaces including an 11,600 sq ft ballroom accommodating more than 1,300 guests.
