Nakheel moves forward with $136 million Dubai beach resort
Centara Deira Islands Beach Resort
Nakheel teams with Thai hotel group Centara Hotels & Resorts to cement JV with a construction contract for Centara Deira Islands Beach Resort
Master developer Nakheel and Thai hotel group Centara Hotels & Resorts have now sealed a joint venture on an upcoming construction contract that will seem them collaborating in the construction of a beachfront resort at Dubai’s Deira Islands.
Once completed, this property will have 601 new rooms to offer guests. It will also feature a vast number of amenities—just have guests have come to expect from luxury hospitality properties in Dubai—including a waterpark, various restaurant options, a kids’ club, a spa, a fitness center, and, of course, business facilities. Of the 601 rooms that will be in the resort, 114 rooms will be tabbed specifically for families, and those rooms will all clock in at roughly 450 square feet. This Dubai beach resort will also feature rooms for guests who have special needs, as well as standard rooms, deluxe rooms, suites and 1,200 square foot duplexes.
Building a Dubai Beach Resort
In service of the project, the two stakeholders have appointed Parkway International Contracting to get it done. Dubbed the Centara Deira Islands Beach Resort, it will be Centara’s first in the United Arab Emirates. Currently, the property is slated to be opened for guests late in the year 2020.
The contract for the four-star resort takes Nakheel’s infrastructure and construction investment at Deira Islands to roughly $2.4 billion so far, according to a statement.
What the Stakeholders are Saying
Nakheel Chairman Ali Rashid Lootah had this to say about the project: “Our joint venture with Centara underlines our commitment to working with trusted international brands to bring new hospitality concepts to Dubai, and today’s crucial milestone brings this exciting new resort even closer. I look forward to delivering one of Dubai’s most sought-after destinations for travelers from all over the world.”
Meanwhile, Suparat Chirathivat, executive vice president, Corporate Development, Central Group, had the following to add: “This is Centara’s first hotel in Dubai, and the UAE, and represents our arrival in a key gateway city in the Middle East. We believe that the unique design and service of Centara Deira Islands Beach Resort Dubai will offer unforgettable holiday experiences to guests.”
