The opening of Moxy Halifax Downtown marks the hotel brand’s entry to Canada. True to the brand, the hotel comes with vibrant communal areas and stylish design.

The property pays homage to industrial Halifax through its design, with elements also referencing its place in Nova Scotia, and social areas add to Halifax’s food and drink scene.

Entry to Canada

The 160-key Moxy Halifax Downtown introduces guests to the vibrant downtown area of this rapidly growing coastal city in Atlantic Canada, with shopping, galleries, parks and attractions all within easy reach.

“As we continue to grow our global portfolio, introducing the spirited Moxy brand to Canada with the opening of Moxy Halifax Downtown is a milestone we are excited to celebrate,” said Matthew Boettcher, Vice President of Distinctive Select Brand Portfolio, Marriott International. “Halifax is a city full of energy, culture, and diversity, making it the perfect destination for a brand like Moxy.”

The hotel interiors reference industrial Halifax, with steel bridge columns flanking the bar area of the lobby also featuring exposed brickwork, a custom-built DJ booth and an original cannon.

A steel lion sculpture, created by Ballast Design Studios, references the Nova Scotia flag and the hidden ‘Lion’s Den’ room is a modern dedication to the church that once stood here.

Flexible and functional space

The industrial-chic guest rooms, including 18 suites with an open kitchen, are designed for functionality and flexibility, with modular furniture and tech-savvy touches like keyless entry.

During a stay, guests can make use of the 24-hour gym and more than 1,520 sq ft of the property is dedicated to meeting and event space.

The hotel’s drinking and small-plate dining concepts are laidback yet stylish, with Bar Moxy offering a space to work or connect during the day before it becomes a social hub each evening. For added convenience, Moxy Pick-Ups offers 24/7 grab-and-go snacks and drinks.
