The first-ever Moxy-branded hotel with 113 rooms has now opened its doors in Lausanne’s quickly developing Flon area.
Marriott recently brought its fun and youthful Moxy brand to Switzerland for the very first time.
We find out more about the Alpine nation’s first Moxy hotel and why it’s sure to be a success among young travellers.
Bringing Moxy to Switzerland
With its Moxy brand, Marriott wants to attract a young generation of travellers who crave a distinct style, love everything digital and want great value for money.
The new property in Lausanne ticks all the boxes with its 113 modern yet comfortable guest rooms decked out with the very latest in tech.
Its lobby is designed to make guests feel like they are stepping into a vast living room where they can linger and relax with a craft cocktail from the bar, work or meet fellow travellers.
Moxy Lausanne’s location in Lausanne Flon was also chosen very deliberately. Set in the heart of the city, close to the old town, department stores, restaurants, the main station as well as bars and top night clubs, it offers lifestyle travellers everything they want within walking distance.
“We are very proud to open the first Moxy Hotel in our home country as a Swiss company,” Beat Kuhn, Managing Director of SV Hotel, Marriott’s Swiss franchisee, said at the opening ceremony.
An unforgettable opening party
Around 100 guests were invited to the grand opening event. After speeches by Beat Kuhn, Managing Director of SV Hotel, Philippe Vaes, Managing Director Moxy Lausanne City Hotel, and Roman Loser, Head of Development of Mobimo Suisse Romande, it was time for some more light-hearted fun.
A traditional alphorn performance was followed by an exciting drag queen performance. The artists stayed the whole evening, mingled with the guests and returned to the stage several times.
Guests also had the opportunity to take photos in themed rooms and booths, get a tattoo, play video games and enjoy cocktails crafted by the resident barman.
