Together with Singapore’s Fragrance Group, Accor is preparing to launch Australia’s second Mövenpick hotel, with the May 2021 debut of a stylish scheme in Melbourne.

The soon-to-open Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer takes up the six-level podium of the landmark, 78-storey, Elenberg Fraser-designed Premier Tower development.

The brand’s entry to Melbourne

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ new Melbourne property lies at the point that Spencer and Bourke Streets meet in the CBD. Here, travellers will be hosted across 172 guestrooms distinguished by their contemporary design.

Facilities within the hotel will include a dedicated café serving the brand’s signature ice cream, the Miss Mi modern Asian restaurant and bar, a 25-metre swimming pool, a sauna, a well-equipped gym and a boardroom. Guests can also expect a daily Chocolate Hour, among other Mövenpick brand signature offerings.

Simon McGrath, CEO of Accor Pacific, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing the Mövenpick hotel brand to Melbourne. This investment will benefit the local community by providing a choice of even greater accommodation options for visitors to the city and for Accor loyalty guests.

“The city of Melbourne is the perfect location for a Mövenpick hotel, enriching Melbourne’s incredible culinary scene with an outstanding restaurant and bar, and masterfully blending the brand’s Swiss heritage with a top-quality hospitality experience.”

James Koh, CEO of Fragrance Group, who previously partnered with Accor for the creation of Mövenpick Hotel Hobart, added: “We are excited to further develop our partnership with Accor and deliver Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer, which will be a unique addition to Melbourne’s tourism offering. We can’t wait to unveil this exquisite hotel, and showcase its showstopper Miss Mi venue, to Melburnians and those visiting the culture capital of Australia.”

Swiss heritage meets Asian inspiration

Mövenpick is well-known for its Swiss heritage and 70-year culinary legacy. This hotel aims to enhance Melbourne’s dining scene with the opening of the Greymatters-designed Miss Mi, which is set to deliver a modern approach to the traditional Asian barbecue.

Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer is ideally positioned at the heart of an eclectic dining and fashion district, opposite Southern Cross railway station and near Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. From the hotel, guests are just a short stroll from Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium, Queen Victoria Markets and Marvel Stadium.

The much-anticipated scheme is set to join the Accor brand’s impressive portfolio of hotels, which also includes Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali, Mövenpick Resort Kuredhivaru Maldives, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea, Mövenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 Bangkok, Grand Plaza Mövenpick Dubai Media City UAE, Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre, Mövenpick Hotel The Hague and Mövenpick Hotel Hobart.
