Minor Hotels, NH Hotel Group to debut Anantara brand in Spain
The luxurious Villa Padierna Palace in Marbella, Spain
The two companies sign agreement to jointly operate the Villa Padierna Palace, a hotel in Marbella in the south of Spain.
The two companies announced the signing of the agreement this month. It will see them jointly operating the Villa Padierna Palace, in the Spanish coastal town of Marbella.
Owned by the Villa Padierna group, the property will be rebranded to Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, Minor Hotels’ core luxury brand and managed under a variable lease agreement from now on.
This step marks the first integration of Minor and NH’s portfolio of brands following Minor’s acquisition of NH in October 2018.
Moving along brand integration
Indeed, following Minor’s acquisition of NH last October, the two brands have now successfully started implementing key integration strategies, including bringing all hotel brands spread across 50 countries under the same corporate umbrella.
Two key integration initiatives also include a transfer earlier this year of Minor’s Portugal and Brazil operations over to the NH Hotel Group.
This, experts say, will yield multiple benefits, such as enabling the geographic operating clusters of the companies to best capitalize on expansion and rebranding opportunities.
The first tangible manifestation of this strategy is, of course, the upcoming rebranding of Villa Padierna to Anantara.
That shift will see a property managed by NH Hotel Group under the guidance and brand oversight of Minor Hotels, creating a combined leadership and expertise situation from both companies.
“This agreement marks excellent progress on our integration with Minor Hotels and the first opportunity for NH to offer Europe an ultimate luxury concept which connects travellers with authentic experiences in privileged destinations,” said Ramón Aragonés, CEO of NH Hotel Group.
The many amenities of the Anantara
Located in the Costa del Sol’s Golf Valley, the new Anantara will be a world-class luxury hotel property.
The hotel will be relaunched as Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Benahavis Marbella Resort, making it the first Anantara in NH Hotel Group’s home market of Spain as well as the second Anantara in all of Europe, with the first being the Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort in Portugal, launched two years ago.
Surrounded by three golf courses, the property is in the centre of the region’s so-called Golden Triangle, which is made up of Marbella, Benahavis, and Estepona.
The hotel boasts an impressive combination of 130 luxury hotel rooms, suites and villas, unique dining venues and exclusive health and wellness facilities. Principally designed by English architect Ed Gilbert, Villa Padierna is styled like a mythical Tuscan palazzo and home to more than 1,200 original works of art.
“We are very happy to debut our luxury Anantara brand in Spain with the upcoming launch of Anantara Villa Padierna, Marbella Benahavís Resort, which at the same time demonstrates our commitment to integrate Minor Hotels and NH portfolio of brands and operational expertise across our joint and expanding geographical footprint,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO Minor Hotels.
State-of-the-art wellness and lifestyle facilities
Guests have the option of staying in one of the resort’s top-tier villas, which combine the exclusivity of a private residence with the comfort of a luxury hotel. One of these is the Obama Villa, renamed after former First Lady, Michelle Obama, chose to spend her 2010 summer holiday there.
Inspired by the distinctive character of local Spanish cuisine, the resort offers a premium culinary experience designed to help guests connect with their destination.
The hotel offers a wide range of high-quality dining options to suit all tastes and times of the day, including La Veranda, La Loggia, Club del Mar, Hole 55, The Grill Club, Eddy’s Bar and La Pérgola.
In addition to the restaurant and bar offerings, the resort’s gardens, two swimming pools and the impressive spa area invite guests to rest and relax.
The proximity to golf courses and the corporate/social event hosting facilities are another winning feature. The latter includes the latest technology systems across over 2,000 square metres of event spaces, made up of eight meeting rooms, five terraces and a Roman amphitheatre with the capacity to accommodate 400 people
