Minor Hotels' management line-up has had a shakeup, following the departure of its long-serving EMEA chief executive.

Ramón Aragonés, Minor Hotels‘ Europe & Americas CEO, has announced his retirement. The long-serving executive will finish his tenure at the end of 2024.

Minor Hotels CEO Dillip Rajakarier said Mr Aragonés had “demonstrated inspirational leadership, vision and tireless dedication throughout his tenure”.

“Since joining the group, then known as NH Hotel Group, in 2009, he has been instrumental in transforming it into one of the leading hospitality groups in Europe and the Americas.”

Mr Aragonés will be replaced by Gonzalo Aguilar, who joins the hotel group from Marriott

Mr Aguilar brings more than 30 years of industry experience to Minor Hotels. At Marriott, he was Chief Operating Officer for EMEA and was responsible for driving growth and record earnings in the region.

Mr Aguilar will spearhead the group’s growth strategy for Europe and the Americas, and will begin his role on 1 January 2025. Prior to starting his role, he will begin a three-month handover period with his predecessor starting 1 October.

Meanwhile, Mr Aragonés will continue to sit on the Minor Hotels Europe & Americas Board of Directors and serve as Non-Executive Vice Chairman.
