Millennium Hotels and Resorts doubles down on MEA

May 2024 saw Millennium Hotels and Resorts open its first hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The 252 room Millennium Jeddah is the latest addition to the company's presence across the kingdom, joining eight other hotels across the cities of Hail, Jazan, Madinah, Makkah and Tabuk.

“We are delighted to announce the expansion of our presence in Saudi Arabia with the opening of Millennium Jeddah,” said Fahad Abdulrahim Kazim, CEO of Millennium Hotels and Resorts MEA and Lakhraim Group. “Saudi Arabia is growing exponentially in the tourism sector, and at Millennium Hotels and Resorts MEA, we are thrilled to play a part in the extraordinary journey towards Vision 2030.” The Singapore-backed has a strong pipeline of further properties coming across the region, under its Millennium, Copthorne, Grand Millennium and Millennium Place brands.

A strong Middle Eastern pipeline

Upcoming openings include the Millennium Central Jeddah, a 220 room hotel that is due to launch in autumn 2024. The accommodation is spread across two towers, featuring all the amenities to be expected from a five star property.
Also coming to the Dubai hotel market will be the 349 room Avalon Tower Hotel, in the destination’s Jumeirah Village Circle district. This will be branded under the group’s Copthorne flag on opening.

The group is also planning the launch of two hotels under its Millennium Place brand. The first of these will be in Dubai at Business Bay, part of The One development and is a four star property. First Group is developing the 18 storey block, with 492 rooms. In Qatar the group plans to open Millennium Place Doha. The project will feature 150 bedrooms, along with function space and food and beverage outlets, in a central city location.

Elsewhere in the region, in Turkey, a further 2024 launch is in the works for the new Millennium West Istanbul. A 314 bedroom property, it is already under construction. The hotel will join the group’s existing presence in the city, the Millennium Golden Horn Istanbul.

A pipeline into 2025

In 2025, the group expects to open a Grand Millennium resort in Danah Bay, on Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah. The upper upscale property, with around 300 bedrooms will feature a resort feel, with its beachside setting.

In Saudi Arabia, the group is advancing plans to add a Copthorne branded hotel in the destination of Abha, and it is expected that in early 2025 the Copthorne Al Basateen will be ready for launch. The project, close to the Red Sea coast, will have 254 rooms and will be just ten minutes from King Abdulaziz International Airport.
