MGallery dips its toe into Uruguay

The Estúdio Penha-designed Hotel Costanero Montevideo MGallery, which boasts superb views of the Río de la Plata, has become the collection brand’s first outpost in the country.

French hospitality giant Accor is celebrating a major milestone in South America.

MGallery makes its debut in Uruguay

Accor’s premium collection brand MGallery has added another exciting property to its roster – and its first in Uruguay. Hotel Costanero Montevideo MGallery, conveniently located right in front of Playa de los Pocitos, aims to attract business and leisure travellers looking for design-led accommodation in the city centre.

The scheme features 92 guestrooms, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, a sauna, a massage room and a swimming pool, as well as flexible meeting facilities that can accommodate up to 110 attendees. Moreover, The Cauce Restaurant and Bar has Chef Matias Faroppa at the helm and serves a fusion of local and Mediterranean cuisine, complemented by impressive views of Río de la Plata.

“Our differentiating value will be the guest experience,” explained Francisco Lorente, the hotel’s general manager. “Our visitors will find the city is represented in many aspects throughout the hotel, which will offer a unique sensory experience. This captivating hotel delivers a new way of experiencing Montevideo through its thoughtful design, gastronomy, rooms and atmosphere amplified by the unique views and setting.”

Contemporary design for the modern age

The property stands out not only because of its prestigious location, but also because of the contemporary design. Indeed, the execution of both public and private areas is decidedly modern, and leans on natural materials to convey a light, airy and welcoming atmosphere at every turn.

Sao Paulo-based Estúdio Penha is behind the design, which seeks to channel the innate spirit of Montevideo. Inspiration was taken from local art, architecture and traditional houses, and the results speak for themselves.

“Hotel Costanero Montevideo MGallery will undoubtedly become a sought-after destination in Montevideo,” said Philippe Trapp, COO of luxury and lifestyle brands for Accor in South America. “It will play a fundamental role in the country’s tourism economy, especially in this new stage of border opening in Uruguay.”
