Conrad Punta de Mita, a stylish new 324-room resort, makes its debut along Mexico’s west coast and marks Hilton Worldwide’s first Conrad-branded resort in the country.

Celebrated by beach lovers for its palm-fringed ocean frontage and talcum-white sands, Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit has been given a luxury boost with the arrival of Conrad Punta de Mita.

Conrad’s resort takes its cues from the region’s indigenous people

The second Mexican property – and first resort – from the upscale Conrad brand, the 324-room hotel is part of the private Litibu development, located along the country’s western coast.

Designed by San Francisco-based firm SB Architects, Conrad Punta de Mita is a purpose-built scheme that reflects a core belief of the indigenous Huichol people: that transformation and personal development occur through connection to nature. As such, the resort beautifully blends open corridors, thoughtfully designed spaces that are open to the sky – such as the beach grill and sunset bar’s butterfly roof – and fresh, coastal décor of light timbers, sea blues and indigenous artwork.

Setting new F&B standards in Riviera Nayarit

Each of the 324 rooms and suites has Pacific Ocean views, while for the ultimate in privacy, some of the villa-like ‘casas’ come complete with large patios, plunge pools, freestanding soaking tubs and outdoor showers.

Although that might entice some guests to stay put, there are also plenty of amenities that will appeal to more active travellers. Not least three expansive pools, a long stretch of sandy beach and a clutch of attractive drinking and dining options including a series of pool bars; a café; Árbol, an all-day restaurant serving casual Mexican fare; Mezquite, a beachfront spot with a menu of American crowd-pleasers; and traditional Mexican restaurant Codex.

In addition, those staying onsite can enjoy a drink or two at Tuk, which serves inventive cocktails and craft beers, before burning off the calories with a yoga session on the outdoor fitness lawn, at the 24-hour fitness centre, on the tennis courts, or on the 18-hole Greg Norman-designed Litibu Golf Course. For the more sedate, the 10,000 sq ft spa has seven treatment cabanas and the first-ever traditional Temazcal – a type of low-heat sweat lodge – in a Hilton property.
