Meliá Chiang Mai will open as the first five-star property to debut in this city of northern Thailand since the onset of the pandemic.
The 260-key leisure hotel will open on 10 April 2022 with enticing amenities including the city’s highest rooftop bar commanding spectacular views.

April will see the debut of Meliá Chiang Mai, which Meliá Hotels International is launching in partnership with the hotel owner, Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real estate group, Asset World Corp Public Company Limited.
The hotel provides a new place to stay on Charoen Prathet Road with design that combines inspiration taken from Chiang Mai’s history and culture with contemporary aesthetics. By staying here, guests will be located six kilometres from Chiang Mai International Airport and close to attractions including the Old Town.
Meliá Chiang Mai is a part of the Meliá brand’s rollout of hotels in key destinations across Thailand, which began with the 2020 launch of Meliá Koh Samui.

Meliá Chiang Mai’s general manager, Edward E. Snoeks, added: “Meliá Chiang Mai will open with about 160 employees and will eventually employ a total of 240 people. In addition to being hugely beneficial for local employees and their families, the launch of the first five-star hotel to open in the city since the start of the global pandemic is a much-needed morale boost for the local tourism industry.”
A luxury lifestyle experience
The hotel is located in a 22-storey tower with adjoining seven-storey podium. Rooms will span nine categories including suites starting at 62sqm. All accommodation will come with a king-sized bed and amenities such as flat-screen TVs.
Guests can opt to stay in the lead-in Meliá Room facing west for sunset views over the historic Buddhist temple on Doi Suthep mountain or east for sunrise views over the Ping River. Meliá Corner Rooms and Meliá Premium Rooms are soundproofed and feature a chaise-longue stretching the entire length of the glass wall.
Premium Corner Rooms feature additional furnishings such as sofas and amenities including mini-bars, while the Family Rooms provide room for additional beds.
The hotel’s Level Suite is located on the higher floors and comes with a round bathtub and sweeping views of Chiang Mai, while the 20th-floor Level Presidential Suite provides the most luxurious experience as the hotel’s largest accommodation.
Guests of The Level Room, The Level Premium Room, The Level Suite and The Level Presidential Suite have access to Level Lounge.
Facilities at the hotel include two restaurants, two bars and two lounges including the 21st-floor executive lounge, Meliá’s signature YHI Spa, a fitness centre and swimming pool, as well as a ballroom, four meeting spaces and a kids’ and teens’ club.
