Meliá Hotels International has signed a dual-brand management agreement that paves the way for it to create two properties in the tourist-friendly city of Nha Trang.

Both scheduled to open in 2023, Gran Meliá Nha Trang and Meliá Nha Trang promise to provide a luxury lifestyle experience with Spanish flair, expanding Meliá Hotels International’s portfolio into one of Vietnam’s most celebrated resort areas.

Expansion in Vietnam

When Gran Meliá Nha Trang and Meliá Nha Trang, which are owned by KDI Holdings, open in 2023, they will grow Meliá’s footprint across Vietnam to 15 properties. These new additions will follow the ‘dedication of a life well lived’ vision that Gran Meliá Hotels & Resorts maintains, and the ‘soul of things’ ethos embraced by Meliá Hotels & Resorts. Both properties promise to focus on every aspect of wellbeing while bringing guests the group’s Spanish warmth.

“It is our first time collaborating with KDI Holdings,” said Bernardo Cabot, regional vice president of Meliá Hotels International Asia Pacific. “With the signing of Gran Meliá Nha Trang and Meliá Nha Trang, we are excited to bring another two Meliá Hotels International properties in the region, further enhancing the importance of Vietnam in APAC for the group.”

“This presents an excellent opportunity for us to introduce our Gran Meliá and Meliá brands, providing a mix of brand offerings to cater to the influx in travellers and their various needs – from globally minded luxury travellers seeking the pinnacle of Spanish style and culture, to those who enjoy an infusion of Spanish warmth, closeness and passion for hospitality.”

“Vietnam is one of the fastest growing markets and is the world’s leading heritage destination,” said Do Tuan Anh, chief executive officer of KDI Holdings. “We believe that the future of real-estate development stems from creating values beyond design and construction – it is about taking that bigger step of innovation to create a sustainable landmark for the city and for the future generations to experience.

“With this vision, KDI Holdings is delighted to introduce Vega City Nha Trang, the prime destination for international hospitality, arts and entertainment. In cooperation with Meliá Hotels International, we aim to deliver a customised hospitality experience for all guests visiting Nha Trang.”

An arts and entertainment hub

Nha Trang is the capital of the Khánh Hòa Province in Vietnam’s South Central Coast region. The coastal city, which has become a popular destination for international tourists, is celebrated for its beaches and scuba diving.

Both Gran Meliá Nha Trang and Meliá Nha Trang will be located within Vega City, an integrated resort complex known for its arts and entertainment. This expansive 44-hectare site boasts an impressive offering that includes the Promenade of the Stars, the Dance of Lights show, a coral reef park and a beach club.

The two hotels, Gran Meliá Nha Trang and Meliá Nha Trang, will have 96 beachfront villas and 370 rooms respectively. Both properties will also incorporate a range of dining venues, beach clubs and wellness facilities including spas, fitness centres and pools, as well as shops and MICE facilities. From the hotels, guests will have easy access to sites such as Po Nagar Tower, Long Son Pagoda, Nha Trang Beach and Ba Ho Waterfall.

These hotels contribute to Meliá’s wider expansion plans. In the APAC region alone, the company expects to open new hotels across China, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia by the close of 2021.
