Meliá sets sail for the Seychelles

Meliá Hotels International is adding a first hotel in the Seychelles to its portfolio.

Meliá Sea Front Mahe Island will form part of a newly built resort with sea views and is scheduled to open in 2025.

Beachfront location

The hotel will be located on the beachfront in Mahe, the largest of the Seychelles Islands, near to Seychelles International Airport and its capital Victoria.

The resort which will house Meliá Sea Front Mahe Island will consist of several facilities, including a convention centre for up to 300 people, a shopping mall and medical centre, as well as accommodation for resort employees. There will also be a serviced apartment building with 68 apartments with one, two or three bedrooms.

Comprehensive facilities

The property will provide 120 rooms, 12 of them suites, in addition to all of the services and attributes of the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand. Dining facilities will include three restaurants in different areas of the hotel, including its rooftop. It will also feature a number of swimming pools and garden areas, as well as spaces more focused on well-being activities, including a fully equipped gym.

Across Africa

On the African mainland, Meliá is overhauling an existing site in Ngorongoro, Tanzania, to become a part of the Meliá Collection. After the renovation, due to finish in Q3 this year, the property will be renamed as Ngorongoro Lodge, Member of Melia Collection and will comprise 52 keys, two restaurants, a small barbecue restaurant, a pool and a spa.

Off the west coast of the continent, the hotel group is developing newbuild, Melia White Sands Hotel & Spa, on Boa Vista in the Cape Verde islands, due for delivery in Q3 2023. The 835-room hotel complex will be split into family and adult-only sections, with  family orientated facilities including two separate children’s pools, a baby pool, a wet bar and poolside restaurant, and adventure playground as well as a kids club. The main hotel building will offer a choice of fine dining restaurants and bars including a lobby bar, champagne bar and sports bar.
