At the last installment of TOPHOTELPROJECTS World Tour event in London that was held on June 13th, we caught up with TOPHOTELNEWS Leader . is the managing director of his own company, Sinai Asset Management, and would describe his role as a professional problem solver. Having worked for some of the largest corporate entities in the country, Vaja is enthusiastic about tackling problems head on and says that if there is something to be done, he is the man to do it. He cites his career highlight as fundamentally changing business practices in Lloyd’s Bank, where he implemented a strategy that was focused on purchasing and selling rather than leasing properties, which has saved the company over £1.5m annually, quite the achievement. This increased the efficiency of the organisation as well as saving them money.
Vaja addresses the problem of globalisation when talking about challenges within the hospitality industry. It is not as easy as it once was to make small-scale connections, especially in terms of collaborative working, and he sees luxury hotels becoming spaces for social interaction as well as high-end accommodation. Vaja also predicts the return of old school glamour to hotels and luxury lodging. He mentions the difference between the “guest” and the “member”, and feels that exclusivity is something which is making a comeback, harking back to the old days in the 1920’s and 30’s when going to a hotel was an occasion, and being a member of a private club gave the associates an excuse to dress up and feel special for an evening. He believes that this is going to be popular once again, and is excited about the position of luxury hotels in being able to provide for this resurgence of VIP experience.
