Rosewood Hotel Group, which operates 67 hotels in 23 countries, has recently made headlines with a long list of new hires and promotions at the executive level.

This wave of staffing appointments includes a new chief information officer as well as an assortment of VP positions, both at regional and global levels.

Rosewood Hotel Group consists of four brands: Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, New World Hotels & Resorts, Penta Hotels and Khos.

We find out more about the latest staffing moves below.

Chief Information Officer and SVP

The two most prominent positions in this wave of staffing moves are the chief information officer (CIO) and the senior vice president of operations for the Americas and Europe.

The company named Micah Friedman its new CIO. In his new job, he will lead Rosewood’s global information-technology organization, also working with the group’s other executive leaders to modernize and transform its digital business.

Prior to joining Rosewood in June, Friedman led travel and hospitality management consulting for Cognizant Technology Solutions. Before that, he served as director of Oracle Corporation’s hospitality industry business unit.

As for the SVP of operations for the Americans and Europe, the company has tapped some of its talent on the inside. Rosewood promoted Achim Lenders, its SVP of operations for the Americas and Europe, to group VP of global operations.

He is now responsible for providing operational leadership and aligning strategies across the company’s various brands and regions. Before joining Rosewood in 2017, Lenders worked across China, Japan, South Korea and Australia in senior positions at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and Hyatt Hotels Corporation.

Other newly filled VP positions

In addition to the SVP and the CIO positions, Rosewood made a flurry of other staff moves as well.

The company promoted its VP of sales and marketing in the Americas and Europe, Caroline MacDonald, to VP of global sales and marketing, where she now oversees the global sales team, corporate revenue management and distribution efforts across all four brands. Before Rosewood, she served as SVP of sales and marketing and then chief marketing officer at Auberge Resorts Collection.

Rosewood also promoted Irene Hoek, formerly its VP of development for Europe, to VP of global residential development. Now, she handles all matters relating to the company’s residential division, which comprises 12 existing projects and has an additional nine in the pipeline. During her more than 20 years in luxury hospitality, Hoek has worked with Aman Hotels & Resorts, Dorchester Collection and IHG.

Bede Barry joined Rosewood in June as VP of operations for the Americas. Previously, he helped oversee a combined inventory of 5,541 rooms as VP of operations at The Venetian Macao and The Parisian Macao. During his more than 30 years in the industry, Barry has worked with Sands China, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and Hyatt.

The company named Milet Lukey VP of talent and culture for the Americas. Until her appointment at Rosewood, she worked as VP of talent and culture at Auberge Resorts Collection. Lukey, a more than 25-year veteran of the industry, has worked with SH Group Hotels, Dorchester Collection and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.

Rosewood appointed Jeffrey Wong as VP of finance for the Americas and Europe. Wong previously served as VP of finance and business support for North and Central America with Accor and as corporate director of finance and business support for the Americas, East and Canada at IHG.

As VP, financial controller, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, Jack Xiao will support company-wide corporate initiatives as a key member of Rosewood’s global finance leadership team. Before joining the company, Xiao worked as director of finance for the same region with Kohler Company.

Rosewood has also promoted Managing Directors Frederic Vidal, Daniel Scott and Davide Bertilaccio to regional VPs within their respective regions.

In addition to acting as the managing director of Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort, Vidal now oversees the operations of Rosewood Puebla, Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek and Rosewood San Miguel de Allende.

Scott currently serves as managing director of Rosewood Mayakoba and now supervises Rosewood’s properties within the Caribbean-Atlantic region, including Rosewood Bermuda, Rosewood Little Dix Bay and Rosewood Baha Mar.
