At the recent TOPHOTELPROJECTS World Tour event in Las Vegas, we met , senior president and design principal with Wilson Associates. Presently, Carry serves as managing director of the companies office of the Americas, a role he describes as a “huge honor I’ve received and a responsibility.” Among many career highlights that span a decades-long career, Carry has designed legendary and world famous hotels, including The Palace of the Lost City luxury hotel and the Atlantis Projects 1 and 2 in the Bahamas, as well as the Atlantis Dubai. Carry’s mark on the global hospitality industry is undeniable.
When he thinks of industry challenges, Carry says the business is perpetually faced with unique projects, clients and problems. With his current responsibilities, Carry said he has taken a strong interest in meeting and interviewing people right out of college, and the high quality of these young architects and interior designers have left him feeling encouraged for the future of his company. It’s a far cry, Carry says, from when he came out of school and interiors was hardly a profession.
In terms of predicting the future, Carry says it has always been part of his business, and he remembers 30 years ago predicting rooms with large flat-screen televisions and glass barriers that would disappear with the flick of a switch. While nobody can predict what’s coming in the near future, Carry says there will without question be amazing technology headed our way.
