The St Regis Riyadh
In partnership with Sela Sport Company, Marriott International will create prestigious hotels in the country’s two biggest cities under its prestigious St Regis and Edition brands.
Saudi Arabia is eagerly awaiting the arrival of two spectacular properties in prime locations.
Marriott at the double
Marriott International has signed an agreement with Sela Sport Company to develop The St Regis Riyadh and The Jeddah Edition, with a view to both opening in 2022. The St Regis scheme sits at the entrance to the city’s Diplomatic Quarter, while its Edition-branded counterpart is located on the waterfront close to Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
“We are thrilled to work with Sela Sport Company to bring these exciting new projects to Riyadh and Jeddah,” said Jerome Briet, chief development officer in Europe, Middle East and Africa for Marriott International. “These signings showcase both the growth of the tourism sector in Saudi Arabia and the strong interest in our portfolio of sought-after luxury brands.”
“We are honoured to sign an agreement with Marriott International to open The St Regis Riyadh and The Jeddah Edition,” added Dr Rakan Al-Harthy, managing director of Sela Sport Company.
“The St Regis Riyadh will be part of the Via Riyadh, which will be an ultra-luxurious zone of the Riyadh Season 2021, the six-month event that celebrates the city and its culture. While The Jeddah Edition will be perfectly located in the Jeddah Yacht Club and Marina, Jeddah’s most-anticipated destination, and will be part of the city’s vibrant celebrations and events during Jeddah Season.”
Two new luxury retreats
St Regis’ latest outpost is expected to encompass 83 guestrooms, including 23 suites, and various amenities including two signature restaurants, a fitness centre, a spa, an outdoor pool and the brand’s bespoke butler service. The hotel will be part of the luxury mixed-use development Via Riyadh, which also comprises retail and entertainment outlets.
The Jeddah Edition, meanwhile, will provide accommodation across 63 guestrooms, accompanied by a signature restaurant, lounge bar, rooftop bar and penthouse terrace, as well as a spa, fitness centre, and indoor and outdoor pools.
These two hotels will enhance Marriott’s portfolio of properties across Saudi Arabia, where the group currently has 30 properties across ten brands.
