Marriott International has announced plans to develop a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Saudi Arabia’s new Red Sea destination.

This sanctuary created in partnership with The Red Sea Development Company promises to offer transformative and immersive guest experiences.

An experiential sanctuary

Set to open within this new destination taking shape off the west coast of Saudi Arabia, Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is slated to debut in 2023 with a highly personalised experience that combines the brand service with indigenous design inspiration and this location’s natural beauty.

On opening, this property will join a collection of just five Ritz-Carlton Reserves worldwide. This sanctuary in Saudi Arabia will also be home to 18 Ritz-Carlton Reserve branded residences.

Commenting on the plans, Jerome Briet, chief development officer in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Marriott International, said: “We are thrilled to bring our most luxurious brand, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, and its exemplary experience to the Middle East.”

“Perfectly situated on one of the most anticipated regenerative tourism projects in the world, the resort will blend seclusion and sophistication to provide a highly personalised luxury escape.”

An inspiring location

The new Ritz-Carlton Reserve will span a set of private islands in the Red Sea’s Blue Hole island cluster. In this breath-taking location, the resort will be designed to blend into the environment with accommodation spanning 63 one- to four-bedroom water and beach villas.

Luxury facilities within this sanctuary are to include multiple restaurants, a spa, swimming pools and retail area among other leisure and entertainment options. The resort will also feature a conservation centre.

Experiences here will be based on human connection and bring together elements of the local culture, heritage and environment, reflecting its place within this collection of unique properties in Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

The Red Sea Project is Saudi Arabia’s regenerative tourism project covering 28,000 sq km of the country’s west coast. This sustainable development features more than 90 islands along with dormant volcanoes, desert, mountains, wadis and more than 1,600 cultural heritage sites.

“I am excited to welcome Ritz-Carlton Reserve into the fold of our luxury collection of brands for The Red Sea,” said John Pagano, CEO at The Red Sea Development Company.

“Around the world, Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties are synonymous with providing unique luxury experiences and creating personalised meaningful escapes, underpinned by a commitment to sustainable practices. As we inch closer to opening our first resorts early next year, this world-class brand is sure to excite and entice future guests.”
