Showcasing understated interiors by Requena y Plaza, AC Hotel Punta Cana will mark the debut of Marriott International’s select-service brand in the Dominican Republic.

Marriott International has announced that AC Hotel Punta Cana, the first project from EGI Business Group in the Caribbean, is expected to launch in the spring of 2021.

A hub for business and leisure

On opening, this new hotel, which is to be managed by Highgate, will meet the growing demand for travel that combines business with leisure, as well as providing a social hotspot at the heart of one of the Caribbean’s fastest growing tourist destinations.

The 129-key hotel aims to enhance the brand’s approach to precision and attention to detail by catering to essentialists who strive to make the most of their time and focus. To achieve this, the hotel features timeless, uncluttered space that retains only the most important elements.

Larger areas than those typically offered by the brand, from the gardens and pool to relaxation areas and fitness centre, aim to be considered, refined and purposeful. There are several multifunctional areas too, including the AC Kitchen, AC Store and AC Lounge, as well as dedicated event space.

A distinct design identity

AC Hotel Punta Cana is being developed by EGI Business Group in collaboration with Montana Group. The modern structure of the property promises to embrace AC Hotels’ distinct architectural style, which combines clean lines with a balanced use of materials and tastefully proportioned space.

Architecture and design firm Requena y Plaza is in charge of the interiors. Placing a focus on art and local roots, it seeks to utilise warm colours, local crafts and specially commissioned artworks to draw on the surroundings and complement the hotel’s ambience.

AC Hotels was founded in 1998 – the lifestyle-led European brand now has nearly 160 hotels in 22 countries and territories. AC Hotel Punta Cana will be the 11th AC Hotel in the Caribbean.
