Marriott grows luxury presence in Asia Pacific
Marriott International has big plans for the Asia Pacific market. With 130 hotels currently operational in one of the world’s fastest growing hospitality markets, it plans to add 54 more hotels to its portfolio within the year.
All new properties will fall under Marriott’s luxury offerings with brands such as JW Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, and The Luxury Collection gearing up to launch more hotels before the close of the year.
Peggy Fang Roe, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, Asia Pacific, Marriott International, spoke of the move, saying, “Asia Pacific’s luxury travel industry is one of the fastest-growing in the world, driven by markets like China and India. On top of this, global luxury travellers today are seeking more than just the opportunity to indulge, they want experiences that deliver personal meaning and significance. In response, Marriott International continues to grow its footprint and experiential offerings in Asia Pacific, providing highly contextualised and carefully curated experiences, allowing luxury travellers to explore their passions.”
Australia, China and India major markets for Marriott
Australia, China and India are set to be the biggest recipients of new Marriott properties in this expansion spurt.
Perth, Nanjing and Xi’an will be home to new Ritz-Carlton hotels. China will welcome further Marriott brands JW Marriott and The Luxury Collection, with the JW Marriott Hotel Qufu already open and the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Shanghai Pudong to open in July.
The Luxury Collection will arrive in Nanning, China, as well as in Okinawa, Japan, and India will be the home of a Luxury Collection property in Kolkata and a new Ritz-Carlton in Pune.
