Marriott expands its Collection Brands in Edinburgh with three hotels, including Scotland’s first Luxury Collection property

Marriott International is significantly strengthening its presence in Edinburgh through a three-hotel agreement with the Chris Stewart Group, a renowned local property developer and hotel operator. The partnership includes two rebrands under Marriott’s prestigious Collection brands and the launch of a new-build hotel, set to enhance the city’s luxury and lifestyle hospitality offering.

Three iconic properties, one strategic expansion

As of 1 July 2025, The Edinburgh Grand will join The Luxury Collection, marking the brand’s debut in Scotland. Housed in a grand neo-classical building on St Andrew Square, the property is known for blending architectural heritage with residential-style comfort.

Simultaneously, Old Town Chambers, located on the historic Royal Mile, will be rebranded under the Autograph Collection. This distinctive property offers stylish serviced apartments in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, appealing to guests who value individuality and immersive experiences.

RBH Hospitality Management has been appointed to operate both hotels, expanding their collaborative role with Chris Stewart Group and Marriott International.

The third property, The Colourist, is currently under development and scheduled to open in 2027 as part of the Tribute Portfolio. Positioned at the west end of Princes Street, the hotel promises a bold, design-forward approach, complementing Marriott’s growing portfolio of vibrant and diverse boutique hotels.

Partner perspective on a milestone collaboration

Chris Stewart, CEO of Chris Stewart Group, said, “Joining forces with Marriott International allows us to elevate each of these properties while staying true to their individual character and the spirit of Edinburgh. This is a defining moment for our hotel portfolio, and we’re thrilled to share it with a global audience through three of Marriott’s most distinctive brands.”
