Designed by Hong Kong-based architecture firm CL3, the 293-key Renaissance Shenzhen Bay is the latest addition to Marriott International’s expanding portfolio in southern China.
Marriott International’s new hotel is situated in the bustling tech zone of Nanshan. We find out more about the scheme.
A Renaissance in Shenzhen
The stunning Renaissance Shenzhen Bay has started welcoming guests to Nanshan in the southwest of this important Chinese city. Known internationally for its status as a booming tech hub, this cutting-edge district is where the Shenzhen High-Tech Industrial Park is located.
Henry Lee, president of Greater China at Marriott International, said: “As China’s most successful economic zone and a driving force of the Greater Bay Area of Southern China, Shenzhen is an important destination for both business and leisure travellers.
“Renaissance Shenzhen Bay is the latest addition to Marriott International’s expanding portfolio of 15 hotels across nine distinctive brands in Shenzhen. This opening strengthens our presence in this fast-growing city, meeting the demand for business travellers and MICE clients while also connecting leisure travellers with wonderful new discoveries in Shenzhen through the Renaissance brand.”
Channeling the spirit of Shenzhen
Renaissance hotels are known for having a strong connection to their destinations, and Renaissance Shenzhen Bay is no different. Guests can liaise with the in-house Renaissance Navigator – who is on hand to provide the inside track on all the local goings-on – while the MixC World retail complex is close by and popular tourist destinations such as the Happy Valley, Window of the World and Splendid China Folk Village are only a short drive away.
The hotel is inspired by Shenzhen itself – Hong Kong-based architecture firm CL3 has taken the word ‘Shenzhen’ in Chinese characters, interpreting the name into four deconstructed elements: wood, water, earth and spring. Distinctive areas featuring decor that cleverly represents each element have then been introduced around the property.
A high-quality F&B offering
Chris Shum, complex general manager for Renaissance Shenzhen Bay and Courtyard by Marriott Shenzhen Bay, said: “Shenzhen is on the forefront of global technological innovation and Nanshan is the emerging epicentre of high-tech companies, which attracts both international and domestic travellers for business and leisure. We look forward to welcoming our guests to discover the unexpected experiences in one of the best neighborhoods in Shenzhen, as well as curating a relaxing and comfortable stay for them through our design-led spaces and excellent F&B outlets.”
Onsite, guests will find four F&B outlets, from the contemporary fusion restaurant Bay Leaf and Chinese eatery Wan Li Xuan to all-day dining offering Food Studio and cocktail bar and lounge R Bar. There’s also a heated swimming pool and 24-hour fitness centre, as well as over 2,000 sq m of flexible meeting and event space.
