Designed to be a place to live life to the fullest, Mama Shelter Downtown LA will open its doors in 2026.
Downtown conversion
Transforming the existing Mart South Building in downtown LA, the new Mama Shelter will boast 149 keys, including 145 standard rooms and four suites.
The hotel will offer three food and beverage outlets, with an all-day dining restaurant and café on the ground floor and a rooftop bar and terrace overlooking the city. Guests will also have access to and use of an onsite fitness centre and parking garage.
Design signatures
The Mama brand’s exuberant interior decorations, homemade, high-quality menus and year-round happenings will be featured at the new site. Design signatures will include graffiti carpets and ceilings, comfy chairs, cartoon masks and singular ornaments.
Mama Shelter Downtown LA will be conveniently situated in the city’s Fashion District, home to over 4,000 independently owned retailers and thriving local and national restaurants and haunts. Adjacent to the hotel, California Market Center has long hosted premier events.
South American surge
The second Mama Shelter hotel in the city comes following the success of Mama Shelter LA, which opened in May 2015 in Hollywood.
The brand is also planning expansion in South America, with Mama Shelter Medellin marking the line’s Columbian debut, delivering 150 keys in Q1 2026, and a mooted 120-key Mama Shelter Santiago on the horizon for the Chilean capital.
