Madrid welcomes city’s first Curio Collection by Hilton hotel

Hotel Montera Madrid, Curio Collection by Hilton is now open as the brand’s first property in the Spanish capital. The hotel’s design draws on the eclectic character of the area.

Highlights of this design-led hotel range from its prime central location to inviting spaces including a stylish restaurant and rooftop bar.

A reimagined heritage site

The new Hotel Montera Madrid, Curio Collection by Hilton is found in a remodelled neoclassical building, dating back to 1924, on Calle de la Montera. The hotel’s interiors are designed by interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán to reflect aspects of the culture and heritage in Madrid.

This design concept takes inspiration from the name of the street the hotel is on (Montera, translating to a hat worn in traditional Spanish costume), fusing these influences with contemporary style for a relaxed feel.

“We are delighted to welcome the impressive Hotel Montera Madrid, Curio Collection by Hilton, to our expanding European portfolio,” said David Kelly, senior vice president, Continental Europe, Hilton.

“This spectacular property offers guests an authentic experience in the heart of Spain´s bustling capital city, with elegant rooms, a stylish restaurant and rooftop bar with stunning views. Hotel Montera Madrid will be popular with both locals and international visitors alike, and is another standout Hilton property in one of the world’s most celebrated cities, where we are serving a wide variety of traveller needs at our six hotels under six distinctive brands.”

New social venues

The new Curio Collection by Hilton hotel is home to 93 tranquil rooms, including eight suites, combining traditional Castilian design elements with modern style. These rooms and suites are designed with environmental efficiency in mind. Sustainable features include controlled LED lighting, energy saving window fittings and reusable water bottles.

Guests and locals can dine at La Braserí restaurant serving typical Madrilenian cuisine with an international twist and world cuisine incorporating local flavours.

El Cielo de Chicote has then opened as the sister venue to Museo Chicote cocktail bar, which dates back to 1931. At this new cocktail bar on the hotel’s rooftop, cocktail creations inspired by the Spanish expression ‘De Madrid al Cielo’ (From Madrid to the Heavens) are offered with 360º views of the city. This rooftop also has an open-air pool and Balinese bed area.

Centrally located, the property is a short walk from many of the city’s shopping areas and attractions including Plaza Mayor and the Golden Triangle of Art.
